When I first began these groups, I used a more structured approach. After two years of running multiple groups for teens, I have realized the importance of creating a space where teens have the autonomy to decide what they would like to focus on in a group setting. I hope to cultivate a safe environment where teens can bring in the challenges they are experiencing, and I can use my expertise to help guide and support them in figuring out how to support themselves. In doing this, I have noticed teens develop an increased trust in their ability to communicate and work through the challenges in their lives.
